GIPHY, a leader in visual expression and creation, is joining the Facebook company today as part of the Instagram team. GIPHY makes everyday conversations more entertaining, and so we plan to further integrate their GIF library into Instagram and our other apps so that people can find just the right way to express themselves.

A lot of Facebook users already use GIPHY. In fact, GIPHY claims that its 50% traffic comes from Facebook and Instagram has a huge contribution in this. This combination of Facebook and Giphy will open new doors for the creators in representing their creations to a vast community.

Facebook is using GIPHY’s API for years in almost all of its publishing networks. The investment is for a greater relationship and advancement in the technology of GIPHY.  People will still be able to upload GIFs; developers and API partners will continue to have the same access to GIPHY’s APIs, and GIPHY’s creative community will still be able to create great content.

GIFs and stickers give people meaningful and creative ways to express themselves. Thus, community will get great benefit from this strong partnership.
