Major Investment in NY Water Systems: $300M Approved for Upgrades

Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the Environmental Facilities Corporation Board approved over $300 million in financial assistance for water infrastructure projects across New York State. This funding, which includes federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and State Revolving Funds, supports essential improvements in water and sewer systems. The City of Auburn, Cayuga County, for instance, will receive over $91 million for critical wastewater treatment plant upgrades. These projects aim to remove emerging contaminants from drinking water, improve water quality, and support environmental justice in disadvantaged communities. This initiative reflects New York’s commitment to clean water and resilient infrastructure, ensuring long-term benefits for its residents.
