Airbnb Inc. has hired another Amazon.com Inc. employee, this time Dave Stephenson, as the vacation-rental portal’s chief financial officer, before an initial public offering.
Stephenson was most recently vice president and chief financial officer of Amazon’s Worldwide Consumer Organization, which is responsible for the company’s Amazon Prime programme, Whole Foods and Zappos business units, as well as global website sales. Stephenson also served as vice president of Amazon’s International Consumer unit and handled financial matters over his 17-year tenure with the company.
As CFO, Stephenson’s responsibilities will also include overseeing the $31 billion company’s much-anticipated IPO. Earlier this month, Airbnb also reported that it had had the “strongest quarter” in the company’s history during the third quarter, with revenues of more than $1 billion.
